Priya Seshan A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Priya received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Sociology at Marquette University, where she was a participant in the college’s Educational Opportunity Program/Ronald E. McNair Research Fellow Program. She went on to receive her Master in Social Work from Columbia University and obtained a Master in Public Health from the City University of New York-Hunter College. Before joining the Henry Street team, Priya was an AmeriCorps volunteer at the YWCA of Kansas City, Kansas, where she implemented school-based parent-child sexuality workshops and HIV/AIDS education in Kansas City’s inner city schools. She went on to work as a Social Worker for several nonprofit school-based programs in New York City’s South Bronx, East Harlem, and Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhoods. Priya worked with high school teens in the areas of drop out prevention, as well as pregnancy and HIV/AIDS prevention. She has worked with pregnant and parenting teens, and enjoys working with teens around the issues of sexuality education and health. Her clinical interests additionally include immigrant-related issues, bereavement, and the impact of infectious diseases upon the family unit. In her free time, Priya enjoys traveling, cooking, and running.
